Curators Freddy and Danny Jones of the "For Freedom Museum" were invited to the Canadian embassy

On Tuesday, 04 November 2025, some enthusiastic residents of the "WZC Vulpia - Residentie Huis aan Zee" from Blankenberge, visited the For Freedom Museum.

Following annual tradition, during the first weekend of November, Knokke-Heist commemorates the Canadians who liberated our region 81 years ago. On Saturday 1 November, a Canadian delegation of 150 military personnel was received at the "For Freedom Museum".

The WWII commemoration ceremonies in connection with the liberation of Knokke-Heist are just around the corner. Every year during Canada Week (autumn holidays), the residents of Knokke-Heist show their gratitude to their liberators by decorating their homes with the Canadian flag, the " Maple Leaf". An action that is always supported by the entire municipal administration

As part of "Out in the Zwinstreek", a "Zwinarrangement" was set up together with the Hotel Van Bunnen and the restaurant La Sirène.

This summer, go in search of the treasures of Vliegje! Free for children aged 6-12, from 1 July to 31 August at the museum.
